Senior Group

The senior group is designed for 13 and over swimmers who are focused on USA Swimming Competition. This is the highest level offered by Portland Aquatic Club. Swimmers are offered 6- 11 workouts per week in order to achieve goals from State to Zones, to Nationals and Olympic Trials. The highest level of commitment is expected to the team, your teammates and yourself. Swimmers are expected to do their best to become the best they can be. Swimmers are expected to participate in additional activities out of the water such as team and individual dry land sessions, goal setting, swimmer/ coach meetings, team meetings, bonus workouts, and to be a role model for PAC’s up and coming swimmers. High School age swimmers are expected to attend morning practices during the year. Jr. High swimmers are expected to attend all afternoon workouts, one morning during the week, and Saturday mornings during the school year. All swimmers are expected to attend 90-100% of the practices.

Group eligibility criteria: Age 13 and over, 4- OSI ’A’ times in their respective age group or 20 X 100 free on a 1:15 sendoff for high school age athletes and 1:20f or Jr. High athletes.  Coaches may use discretion based on swimmers’ age, ability and desire.

Goals: OSI ’A’ Champs, High School State, Age Group Sectionals, Senior Sectionals, Zones, Jr. Nationals, Senior Nationals, Olympic Trials.

Practices: 2- 3 hours per day plus dry land. 6- 11 practices per week. Additional water/ dry land time will be offered during the holidays and summer months. 

Equipment: The equipment listed below must be purchased before the start of the season and must be brought to every practice: One Finis snorkel, one mesh bag, one pair of Finis Agility paddles (preferred) or Strokemaker Paddles (size to be determined by coach), water bottle, and shoes, shorts, and shirt for dry land. Optional items include: kickboard, fins, pull buoy (encouraged for the long course season). All items may be purchased through JD Pence (tell them you are with the PAC senior group).
