2025-26 FEES AND COMMITMENTS

Team membership requires several different types of fees and commitments: annual registration fees paid at enrollment, dues paid monthly, plus service hours and fundraising requirements for the year. Members incur additional expenses for meet fees and gear. Please read about our Scholarships if these fees and commitments create an undue burden for your family.

Overview

Dues, service hours, and fundraising requirements vary by training group. In contrast, registration fees are the same for most training groups. This table provides a brief summary. Please see the notes below for definitions of terms and additional details.

Registration Fees

Registration fees are non-refundable and due at the time of enrollment. They include two components: an annual fee paid to our team and a separate fee paid to USA Swimming.

  • PAC's non-refundable Annual Registration is $150 for one swimmer or $275 for 2+ swimmers. There is no additional registration charge for the third or fourth swimmer on the same account.
  • USA Swimming's registration fee costs approximately $90 per swimmer for the year. NEW swimmers must register directly with USA Swimming through a separate online process before the first practice. RETURNING swimmers will participate in a bulk renewal process billed on October 1st.

Dues

Dues are payable in monthly installments that vary by training group as shown above.

PAC provides an annual dues discount for families with two or more swimmers on the same account. The highest level swimmer pays full dues, the second swimmer receives a 10% dues discount, the third swimmer receives a 20% dues discount, the fourth and subsequent swimmers receive a 50% dues discount.

  • Billing for the season runs September through August (12 months).
  • Dues are billed on the 1st of the month, for that month, with payment due before the 5th of the current month's billing cycle
  • Swimmers registering before the 15th of each month are responsible for 100% of that month's dues (billed to account and due when registration is approved - invoice will be emailed to account on file). Swimmers registering after the 15th of each month are responsible for 50% of that month’s dues (billed to account and due when registration is approved - invoice will be emailed to account on file).
  • A $25 late fee is assessed at the end of each month if any outstanding payments are due.
  • Accounts over 30 days past due are restricted from meet sign up. Accounts over 60 days past due may be restricted from practice unless an acceptable payment plan can be agreed to.

Fundraising Commitment

Families are required to raise funds in support of our team. Fundraising commitments vary by training group ($300-$500) and do not exceed $600/family. Members are welcome to raise funds thorough PAC's organized fundraising activites or by direct donation. Members are responsible for ensuring funds raised are correctly reflected in their account. Unfulfilled fundraising commitments are billed on August 1st or upon departure from the team, whichever comes first.

Once required volunteer hours have been completed, addtional volunteer hours will be credited towards required fundraising requirements at a rate of $17.50/hour, families on scholarship will remain at $35/hr.

Service Hour Commitment

Families are required to work in service of our team. Service hour commitment (also known as volunteer hour commitment) varies by training group (20-30 hrs) and does not exceed 30 hours per family. Members have many options for completing hours - PAC asks that all families make an effort to commit to at least 10 hours of timing/officiating at swim meets throughout the year if possible. Members are responsible for ensuring all service hours are correctly reflected in account. Unfulfilled service hours are billed at $35/hour. To promote shared responsibility and consistent service participation, service hours will now be billed twice per year:

April 1st: 60% of the annual service hour requirement must be completed by this date, coinciding with the end of the short course season.

  • Example: A 20-hour requirement would need 12 hours completed by April 1st
  • Example: A 30-hour requirement would require 18 hours completed by April 1st.

August 1st: Any remaining required hours must be completed by this date, which coincides with the end of the long course season.

If a family is billed in April for unfulfilled hours but completes their full obligation by August 1st, PAC will issue a credit for the April billing.

Meet Fees

Families are responsible for covering all fees for meets entered, including events and facility surcharge. These fees are added to the monthly invoice, so the total amount due may vary from month to month depending on meet attendance. Once a meet entry deadline has passed and entries are submitted to the host team, the fees cannot be refunded.

Midseason Withdrawal Policy

Portland Aquatic Club (PAC) recognizes that circumstances may arise that require a swimmer to discontinue participation midseason. To ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of our team operations, we have a detailed policy in our team handbook that applies to all midseason withdrawal requests. Please review that policy in our handbook on page 11.

PAC Team Uniform

All PAC swimmers are provided with a Team Swim Cap and Team T-Shirt with registration.

All swimmers must wear ARENA BRAND suits for competition.

Performance Group swimmers are required to purchase a PAC Team Warm-Up Jacket. Please note that a NEW ARENA TEAM JACKET is required. We are reviewing our Arena Contract and will provide additional information when finalized.

PAC has chosen to not enforce a regimented dress code for daily practice. In lieu of a dress code, PAC asks all swimmers to wear suits with "adequate coverage." This means that suits are in good shape (not disintegrating) and stay affixed to the body during vigorous workouts including diving.
