Volunteer & Fundraise
We love our volunteers because you build community! Signing up for jobs gives you a chance to meet other people, learn how the team operates, and build a network of support. Through volunteer work, members can find a sense of belonging. We want everyone to have this opportunity.
The required number of service hours varies by training group, as shown in the Fees & Commitments. For families with multiple swimmers, the total will not exceed the family maximum cap. Swimmers who join the team late in the season will have their requirements prorated.

Volunteer Roles
Ongoing Opportunities: Some jobs are so essential to team operations that we are always looking for more volunteers.
- Become an Official! See our Officials page for more information.
- Time at Swim Meets Training provided on location. You'll have a partner for support and the best seats in the house. Plan to arrive early and ask the clerk of course or front desk staff where to find the signup sheets.
Job Signups: Throughout the year, you'll see some team events that include a green job signup button. When you sign up for these jobs, the software records the hours on your account automatically after completion. Here's what you can expect at each time of the year.
- General Membership Meeting (Sept or Oct) You can earn two service hours just for attending this meeting! We also need help with setup, cleanup, and member check-in.
- PAC Fall Invitational (Nov) We host this meet, so we have a LOT of positions to fill. You might even be able to satisfy your entire service hour requirement at this one swim meet.
- Banquet (April) This is our team awards event. We'll need some special skills like graphic design for our program, PowerPoint and audio visual management for the presentation, plus food service, decorations, and setup/cleanup.
- Swim-A-Thon(April) Help count laps, bring snacks, and coordinate publicity at the pool
- Summer Blast Potlucks (May-Aug) Finish up the year by bringing a dish to share for a meal together.
Annual Roles: Each year we need to fill some standard roles on the team. If you are interested in any of the positions below, please look for the Key Volunteer Role signup event at the beginning of the year.
- Auction Chair: Take the lead on the silent auction and help raise funds for our team. This role involves collecting donations, organizing materials, and coordinating volunteers.
- Banquet Chair: Take the lead on the banquet and celebrate the team! This role involves all aspects of event planning, including facility rental, menu planning, selecting gifts and recognition, and coordinating other volunteers.
- Grant Writer: Use your skills to augment our scholarship fund so that we can make the team more accessible to a diverse group of swimmers.
- Graphic Designer: Are you adept at Adobe Illustrator or InDesign? We have many projects in need of design skills throughout the year.
- Onboarding Coordinator: Each new family needs a welcome kit with a team shirt, cap, and parent handbook. This distribution role will be easiest for a family who visits multiple pools each week.
- Publicist: Promote the team on Instagram and Facebook, write news stories for our website, and reach out to the press when appropriate.
- Site Pool Representative: Attend monthly board meetings one evening a month via Zoom, to represent the needs and concerns of your site pool. Knowledge or interest in non-profit or small business and/or board governance is a plus.
- Swim-A-Thon Chair: Organize the biggest fundraiser of the year! This involves mastering some technology, promoting the event, organizing incentives, tracking progress, and more.
- Team Travel Coordinator: If you are organized and detail-oriented, this is the job for you! The coordinator books hotel rooms, plans transportation, meals and activities. We have all the checklists to help you make the team travel a success.
- Videographer: Plan, film, and edit a short video for our website to show what makes our team special.
- Webmaster: Do you know HTML and CSS? Our website needs regular updates and could benefit from your attention.
- Do you have a special skill we haven't mentioned? Email boardpresident@swimpac.org to let us know!
Longer-Term Roles: A few roles benefit from longer-term commitment, to provide stability. If you are interested in any of the positions below, please email boardpresident@swimpac.org.
- Board Member: Two year commitment required. Experience with non-profit or small business management and/or board governance would be helpful. Candidates are nominated by the board each spring/summer and elected at the General Membership Meeting in the fall.
- Pool Parents: These volunteers support parents and swimmers at each site. They build community, answer questions, and connect people with resources.
- Meet Directors: These volunteers organize and manage the swim meets we host.
- Timing Equipment Manager: These volunteers install our timing system at swim meets, perform general maintenance tasks, and obtain repairs as needed.
How to Fundraise
We love fundraising because it makes the team accessible to more diverse swimmers. With fundraising income, we do not need to cover all team costs through dues. This makes the monthly expense more manageable for families. It also helps build our Scholarship Fund.
The required fundraising amount varies by training group, as shown in the Fees & Commitments. Requirements are additive for families with multiple swimmers, up to the family maximum cap. Swimmers who join the team late in the season will have their requirements prorated.
Team Fundraisers
Silent Auction (November) Secure donations from local businesses or donate items yourself. You receive fundraising credit for the amount the donated item raises at auction. Watch email for announcements about the auction in the fall.
Swim-A-Thon (March-May) Get sponsors, swim laps, and earn amazing incentive prizes! This is a fun community event, and a great way to earn team swag. Watch email for announcements about Swim-A-Thon in the spring.
Direct Donation (Anytime) Have a friend, colleague, or family member looking to donate to a great cause? Want to make a donation yourself? Click the red DONATE button in our website header. Ask donors to search for your swimmer to get fundraising credit applied to your account.
Employer Giving Programs (Anytime)
- Does your employer offer matching funds? Intel, Boeing, Columbia, Nike, Widen Kennedy, Google, and AutoDesk all do. Earn credit for double your donation by asking your employer for these forms. PAC is on the Benevity Giving Platform and registered with YourCause.
- Does your employer offer grants to non-profits that you volunteer your time with? Intel does. Talk to your employer about filling out the paperwork. PAC will credit your Fundraising balance for all funds received.
- Use a giving platform such as Giving Assistant? Check to see if you receive a statement outlining how many dollars your purchases have raised for PAC. Forward that statement to us and we'll credit your fundraising balance for all funds received.
Important Notes
Unmet service hour and fundraising requirements are billed on September 1st or upon departure from the team, whichever comes first. Unmet service hours are billed at a rate of $35/hour, and unmet fundraising requirements are billed dollar for dollar.
If you have questions about your account balance, please email our administrator: billing@swimpac.org.
